FORDHAM — A suspect posing as a city inspector tasked with measuring lead levels tricked a woman into letting him into her apartment, then tied her up and robbed her, police said.

The man claimed to be a city employee when he knocked on the 28-year-old woman’s door on University Avenue March 7 about 1:55 p.m., the NYPD said.

Once he was let in, he forced her into her bedroom and bound her hands with zip ties, police said.

He fled with an undetermined amount of cash and a Samsung Galaxy phone. The woman was not injured, according to police.

The suspect is believed to be in his mid-30s and about 5-foot-10.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
