COLUMBUS CIRCLE — More than $500 of Häagen-Dazs was stolen from a Duane Reade in Columbus Circle a day after it was delivered to the store — marking the latest in a string of thefts of the popular ice cream, police said.

A 49-year-old employee at the Duane Reade at 4 Columbus Circle received a shipment of Häagen-Dazs to the store around 1:10 a.m. on March 18 and put it inside the store's freezer, he told police.

When he checked the freezer the next day, he discovered 44 containers of butter pecan Häagen-Dazs ice cream and 44 containers of an unidentified flavor of Häagen-Dazs were gone, the NYPD said.

The employee told police he didn’t know who was responsible for the missing ice cream, and there was no video surveillance to capture the theft, police said.

The thief or thieves made off with a total of $502 worth of ice cream, the NYPD said.

A manager working at the Duane Reade on Tuesday declined to comment on the theft.

Ice cream thieves have been selling stolen ice cream to bodegas to turn a profit, an NYPD official said.
