BOERUM HILL — Celebrity television chef Anne Burrell, known for Food Network shows "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef" and "Worst Cooks in America," is planning to open a new restaurant in the neighborhood.

The bar and eatery is projected to open in the spring at 196 Smith St., the former location of popular whiskey bar Char No. 4. that shuttered in July.

"After several years of focusing on a very busy television career Burrell is thrilled to make the leap back into the restaurant world, a passion that has never left her," according to a presentation given to Community Board 6's permits and licenses committee that was shared with DNAinfo New York.

Burrell will be opening the restaurant with Phillip Casaceli, the owner of West Village bar Daddy-O.

The team's application for a full liquor license was recommended for approval by the CB6 committee Monday night, committee chair Mike Racioppo said. The full board will vote on the application April 13.

According to the presentation, they hope to open a neighborhood bar and restaurant "with food that feeds your soul - not just your body - in a comfortable and welcoming setting."

The presentation was titled "The Phil & Anne Project," although it was unclear if that was the official name of the eatery.

The American fare restaurant will be open seven days a week with beer, wine and cocktails as well as a full menu with appetizer-sized portions to encourage sharing. Dishes will range between $12 to $30.

An open kitchen will "allow diners to feel like they are hanging out in the kitchen for a more personal food experience."

There are also plans to eventually serve weekend brunch.

Neither Casaceli nor a representative for Burrell responded to request for comment.
