LOWER EAST SIDE — Two women were attacked while waiting for the F train at the Essex Street–Delancey Street station within minutes of each other on the night of March 24, police said, leading authorities to believe the same suspect may have committed both crimes.

One of the victims swiped her card at the Southwest corner of Essex and Delancey streets at around 9:45 p.m. and began walking down the stairs to the Brooklyn-bound platform, police said, when a man walked up behind her and said “Give me the f---ing phone.”

The victim struggled with the perp — described only as standing at roughly 5-foot-7 — on the staircase before he managed to snatch her phone and fled up the stairs to the street, authorities said.

Around the same time, another victim entered the opposite platform and was verbally harassed by a man fitting the same description, according to authorities. When she ignored him, he punched her in the face, throwing her to the ground, police said.

Police say the women may have been attacked by the same man, though the incidents are still under investigation.
