QUEENS — The NYPD and FBI are asking the public’s help locating two men who used card readers and cameras to steal bank information from ATMs across Brooklyn and Queens last fall.

Sorin Ceafa, 35, and Bogdan Atansiu, 36, were spotted installing or removing card readers at five TD Bank ATMs across Brooklyn and Queens between September and November 2015, officials said.

They first struck on Sept. 27 at a TD Bank branch at 211 Montague St. in Brooklyn, officials said.

They hit two Queens branches less than a month later on Oct. 17 at 76-02 Main St. in Kew Gardens Hills and at 164-02 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows, officials said.

On Oct. 22, they hit at 162-02 Cross Bay Blvd., Jamaica, and then were caught on camera removing a card skimmer on Nov. 7 at 70-05 Northern Blvd., Jackson Heights, officials said.

Card readers, or skimmers, duplicate information that can be used to access private bank accounts through ATMs, in combination with a camera that records users' PIN numbers.

Police have advised people using an atm to "yank" on the card reader before using it to determine if a false reader has been placed around it.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects is asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
