ROOSEVELT ISLAND — The Roosevelt Island Bridge, which connects the Island to Astoria, will be closed on Wednesday for routine maintenance.

Starting at 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. on March 30, the bridge will be closed intermittently for 15 minutes at a time to test the bridge's lift system. Each time, the bridge will be completely closed, according to the Department of Transportation.

There will likely be delays so drivers should find a different route.

The bridge, which was opened in 1955, provides connection to motorists and pedestrians over the east channel of the East River.

DOT officials said they have alerted emergency services and first responders of the closure.
