BROOKLYN — Gowanus will soon be feeling the Bern.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders is opening his New York headquarters at 131 Eighth St. near Third Avenue Saturday, according to a campaign announcement.

A block party, rally and canvass lunch open to the public will kick off the event at 11:30 a.m., and will include appearances by Sanders supporters actor Justin Bartha from the "Hangover" movies and Kyp Malone, a member of Brooklyn's own TV On the Radio, the announcement said.

The Vermont senator will not be in attendance, a campaign spokesman told DNAinfo New York.

Sanders is currently locked in a nomination fight with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and is gearing up for New York's primary election on April 19th.

The Bernie Sanders Campaign Kickoff, Canvass and Block Party will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 131 Eighth St. #6 in Gowanus. RSVP to the event here
