MIDTOWN — A supermarket was the latest target in a string of Häagen-Dazs thefts that have plagued Manhattan convenience stores for months.
A male or female suspect lifted 75 pints of the pricey ice cream totaling nearly $450 from the Gristedes at 907 Eighth Ave. last week, an employee told police.
The thief grabbed the pints from the store's freezer around 8:30 on March 15 before flying past the cash registers without paying, police said.
The Häagen-Dazs pints cost $449.25 in total, the NYPD said.
A manager working at the supermarket Thursday declined to comment on the incident.
In February, an NYPD official said thieves make money off of stolen ice cream by reselling it to bodegas.
