MANHATTAN — A pair of men men pretending to be police officers sexually assaulted a woman after pulling her vehicle over on a Chelsea street, the NYPD said.

The suspects were driving in a red Camaro with a black soft top around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 29 when they signaled to the 67-year-old female driver in front of 345 W. 16th St. to stop her vehicle, police said.

After the woman pulled over between Eighth and Ninth avenues, the pair approached her vehicle and told her they were police officers, the NYPD said.

Soon after, the suspects took the woman to a location a few blocks away and sexually assaulted her, police said.

They also stole her purse, which had $135 in cash and a Samsung tablet inside, the NYPD said.

The men fled eastbound on West 16th Street in the Camaro after the assault, police said.

Police released video of the car driven by the two suspects.

The first suspect was described as in his 40s, bald, standing approximately 5-foot-10 and weighing 220 pounds, wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect was described as in his 40s, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 210 pounds, wearing a black baseball cap and white jogging suit.
