QUEENS — A female student suffered a chemical burn to her eye while she was in a lab class at York College in Jamaica Wednesday afternoon, according to the FDNY and school spokeswoman.
The woman was in the main campus building at 94-20 Guy Brewer Blvd. when she was burned at about 1:22 p.m., a fire official said.
The professor in the lab called 911 and she was transported to Queens Hospital Center and was not in critical condition, according to the FDNY and spokeswoman.
The student was expected to fully recover, the spokeswoman said, adding that she did not have further information about how the substance got in the young woman's eye.
