DITMARS — The city's affordable housing lottery opened Tuesday for a new building in Astoria where rents for a studio apartment will start as low as $895 a month.

The building, known as Steinway Estates, is being built at 19-80 Steinway St. at the corner of 20th Avenue and will feature 83 affordable units with amenities like bamboo flooring, a roof deck and on-site laundry and parking.

There will be 12 studio apartments, some of which will go for $895 a month for individuals making $32,023 and $48,350 a year, while others will cost $1,476 a month for those who earn between $51,943 and $78,650, according to NYC Housing Connect.

Depending on household income, one-bedroom apartments will cost either $1,135 or $1,861 a month, two-bedrooms will go for $1,375 or $2,246 a month and three-bedrooms will run $1,581 or $2,586 per month.

Residents who live in Queens Community Board 1 will get a preference for half of the units, according to the NYC Housing Connect website.

The deadline to submit an application is May 23.
