LOWER MANHATTAN — Four "money bags" filled with a combined total of more than $1,000 were grabbed from a truck near City Hall last week, while the deliveryman was in the car, police said.

The vending machine delivery truck was parked across the street from City Hall, at Barclay Street and Broadway at about 2 p.m. on March 11 while the deliveryman was loading up the truck, police said.

At some point, a thief managed to grab four bags of money, filled with a total of $1,050, along with a $1,200 package scanner, from the open truck, without being noticed.

The deliveryman realized the money was gone several minutes later.

Police were still investigating the incident.
