CHELSEA — A thief was arrested less than a week after stealing more than $800 from a safe at the swanky restaurant Buddakan, police said.
A manager at the Asian eatery at 75 Ninth Ave. put envelopes with cash inside the safe at around 10 p.m. on March 6, the NYPD said.
When an employee checked the safe the next day around 9 a.m., one of the envelopes was gone and a second was cut up with cash missing, police said.
A total of $827 in cash was taken between the two envelopes, according to police.
Four days later, on March 11, police arrested an unidentified 38-year-old man in connection with the theft. It was not clear if he was employed at the restaurant.
An employee working at Buddakan on Wednesday declined to comment on the incident.
A media representative for the restaurant also did not respond to requests for comment.
