The chaos unfolded when the gunman stormed into the 20-60 Deli Grocery on Gates and Fairview Avenues in search of an employee just before 2 a.m., the NYPD said.
After a brief scuffle with a pair of clerks, he opened fired, police said.

They were taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition.
At about 3:30 a.m., Anti-Crime Unit officers in Bed-Stuy noticed a Nissan Maxima driving with its headlights off, NYPD officials said.
As they tried to stop the car, they heard a gunshot. The Nissan then slammed into another vehicle before grinding to a halt on Atlantic Avenue and Prescott Place, police said.
He was taken to an area hospital, but couldn’t be saved.
Investigators recovered a 9-mm handgun inside the Nissan, police said.
The owner of the bodega could not immediately be reached for comment.
