HELL’S KITCHEN — The team behind farm-to-table restaurant The Marshal is opening a new eatery just a block away on 10th Avenue.

Dianne & Elisabeth will move into the space at 644 10th Ave., formerly occupied by Olieng Thai and a check cashing outpost, in mid-May, manager Charlie Marshall said.

“[The restaurant] will be small and creative. It’s not going to be tater-tots and French fries,” Marshall said. “We’ll have some really wonderful wines that you can’t get anywhere… as well.”

Along with serving wine, beer and cocktails, pending the approval of its liquor license, the new restaurant plans to dish up small and large plates priced from $12 to $18, respectively.

Some of the signature items include lightly-seared filet mignon with horseradish creme fraiche, challah toast and greens; frog’s leg croquettes with gruyere and smoked paprika creme; and humane fois gras au torchone with fig coulis, hazelnut crackers, local honey and Calvados flame, according to a menu filed with Community Board 4.

Dianne & Elisabeth's menu also includes “dessert first” items like beet, tomato and carrot panna cottas and smoked baby beets, along with and meat and cheese appetizers ranging in price from $5 to $16.

The Marshal on Tenth Avenue was named for Marshall himself, but the new eatery takes its title from his and co-founder Brian Weiss’ mothers, he said.

“They’re our inspiration,” he said. “We like our moms.”
