CHELSEA — A Cajun-style seafood chain that serves fresh crawfish by the pound is bringing its newest eatery to Chelsea.
Hot N Juicy Crawfish, which currently has 10 locations across the country, plans to open at 243 W. 14th St. between Seventh and Eighth avenues in May, co-founder Tim Nguyen said.
The 14th Street eatery will serve up the chain’s standard seafood fare, including a $31 “Get Your Feet Wet” meal that includes a pound of crawfish, a pound of shrimp, a dozen Andouille sausages, and corn and potatoes on the side, a menu filed with Community Board 4 showed.
Other offerings include crab and lobster by the pound at market price, Po’ Boy seafood and chicken sandwiches, and seafood and chicken baskets ranging from $10 to $14.
Patrons will also be able to enjoy beer, wine or a Hot N Juicy “Signature Drink” like the “Craw on Mary” Bloody Mary with crawfish if the eatery’s liquor license is approved.
“Our concept is like no other in New York and will certainly serve the public convenience because no one else is doing this,” the restaurant wrote in its filing with the community board. “Yes, you can get Cajun food, but you are not going to get fresh live crawfish like this.
“We have found that when people eat with their hands, they seem to have a really good time and enjoy the food a little bit more."
