UPPER WEST SIDE — A woman stole a wallet from a gym locker in the neighborhood and used a credit card she found inside it to go on a local shopping spree, police said.

The woman took the wallet, which belonged to a 31-year-old woman, from a locker at New York Sports Club at 248 W. 80th St. on Dec. 9, 2015, sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., police said. It was not clear whether the locker was locked at the time of the theft.

The suspect used a credit card she found inside the wallet to make purchases at Marshalls on Broadway at West 78th Street around 7:45 p.m. and at a Duane Reade on Broadway near West 75th Street at 7:56 p.m. that same day, police said.

Police did not provide information regarding the amounts charged to the credit card at either store.

The suspect is described as in her mid-40s, weighing 250 pounds and with black hair, police said. She was wearing a gray winter hat and black clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
