Girl Allegedly Raped by Classmate Now Being Cyberbullied, Lawyer Says

By Eddie Small | March 7, 2016 4:57pm

SOUTH BRONX — A 16-year-old girl whose former South Bronx Preparatory School classmate was charged with raping her during a field trip is now getting bullied about the incident on social media, her lawyer said.

"She’s nervous," said Scott Rynecki, the victim's attorney.

"She’s emotionally troubled by it and she’s scared, and she doesn’t understand why she has to be victimized twice."

The girl went on a field trip in February with South Bronx Prep to the Pinegrove Family Dude Ranch in Kerhonkson when a group of male teens locked her into a bathroom, which is where the assault took place, according to reports.

The victim has since transferred to a different school, according to Rynecki.

However, the transfer had not stopped her from being taunted and threatened online, the lawyer said.

"That's good for her stupid ass I hope she f--ing dies now. Like gets jumped or some s--t and then gets hit by a f---ing falling helicopter," wrote a girl with the username Nicole Go, according to the Daily News.

"Ugh b---h go die like why are you still f---ing alive."

Another person wrote on Facebook that the victim wanted to transfer schools because "she knows we all gonna say something," while one said in a Facebook video, "If they give five to 10 years to my bro I'll kill you," the Daily News reported.

Rynecki was extremely critical of how South Bronx Prep had dealt with the accusation so far, maintaining that staffers had done very little to talk to students about how to handle the situation and were just trying to "sweep it under the rug."

"The school did not have some sort of assembly to discuss the issue with these students," he said. "It’s unbelievable how poorly they're handling this situation."

South Bronx Prep and the Department of Education did not respond to requests for comment.
