LONG ISLAND CITY — A man wearing a construction helmet shot another man in the arm in Queens on Monday after demanding the victim lay down on the ground, according to the NYPD.

The gunman approached the 32-year-old victim, who was walking to his car, at 1:30 p.m. on 9th Street between 38th and 40th avenues and demanded he lay on the ground, police said.

The suspect, who police said was unknown to the victim, then pulled out a revolver and shot the man in the left arm before fleeing south on 9th Street, according to police.

The victim was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Surveillance footage captured images of the suspect, who is described as between 40 and 45 years old and standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, police said. He was wearing a blue work helmet, a yellow jacket and black clothes.
