SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — On tap at this new Seaport bar: art for sale.

Artists Loft, at 181 Front St., is planning to serve drinks and small bites, while also being an active gallery space, co-owner Harry Young said.

The bar, slated to open sometime before May, sits in a nearly 3,000-square-foot space that has been empty since Hurricane Sandy.

The idea is to showcase of the works of artists that live in New York, while also being a place you can drop in for an after-work drink, Young said.

"Every piece of art we display in the bar will be up for sale," said Young. "We really want to keep bringing more local flavor to the Seaport and support New York artists."

The bar also plans on hosting a variety of exhibits, likely on the weekends.

Young is not a stranger to the neighborhood — he also co-owns boutique South Street Local Artists, at 93 South St., which features a variety of art, jewelry and other crafts from New York artists.

The bar was given support from Community Board 1 for its liquor license bid.
