BROOKLYN — Brooklyn Brewery is eyeing the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Industry City as potential new locations for its operations in the city, according to a published report.

The brewing company is looking to move out of its space at 61-71 Wythe Ave. in Williamsburg once its current lease runs out in nine years, according to Crain’s New York.

Eric Ottaway, the company’s chief operating officer and general manager, told Crain’s soaring rents and luxury development have made staying in the neighborhood unfeasible.

"We know our ability to renew is zero," Ottaway said.

Ottaway told Crain’s the company is looking for as much as 60,000 square feet of space where the company can produce the beer, as well as set up a retail shop and tasting room.

Although most of Brooklyn Brewery’s beer is made upstate in Utica, a location in Brooklyn is crucial to its branding.

The Brooklyn Navy Yard, just north of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, and Industry City, in Sunset Park, have been bringing on manufacturers to produce and sell from their facilities.

The Navy Yard announced earlier this month that famed New York appetizing shop Russ & Daughters would be leasing 14,000 square feet of space for manufacturing and retail at a new food hall set to open next year.

A representative for Brooklyn Brewery did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Representatives for the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Industry City declined to comment.
