ASTORIA — Police are looking for a scammer who used a cloned bank card to steal nearly $700 from a woman's account at an ATM in Queens last month.

The man went to an ATM at the Investors Bank on 31st Street near 23rd Avenue in Astoria shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, where he used a fake card with the 28-year-old victim's bank information to withdraw $649, police said.

The woman still had her debit card in her possession at the time of the incident, according to the NYPD. The suspect has a beard and wore a dark-colored jacket and ski cap, according to authorities.

Local police have previously warned ATM users to "yank" on the card readers at machines in order to check for skimming devices, which thieves use to record card and PIN numbers that they then use to create duplicate cards.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
