MIDTOWN — Thieves stole $7,500 in cash from popular Chinese restaurant Joe's Shanghai, police said.

Security footage at the chain’s location at 24 W. 56th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues, showed two burglars enter the eatery through a sidewalk cellar door around 2:25 a.m. on Feb. 16, according to the NYPD.

Once inside, the thieves took a total of $7,500 in cash from a register and from the manager’s office before fleeing the eatery, police said.

Joe’s Shanghai manager William Ko pointed out that the restaurant was installing new security measures, including additional cameras, at the Flushing-based chain’s Midtown restaurant.

“We already have cameras, but we wanted a security system,” Ko said.

The manager said he hoped the new safety measures would prevent future thefts.

“Hopefully — you never know, right?” he said.
