MARINERS HARBOR — A 44-year-old woman was raped and robbed inside a Staten Island office building, police said.
A man — identified by police as Maurice Scott — walked into an office building on Forest Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Friday and raped the woman, the NYPD said.
The suspect then took the woman's jewelry, Samsung cellphone and cash before he fled the building, police said.
The woman was treated at Richmond University Medical Center, police said.
Scott, 28, was described by police as a 6 foot tall and 290 pounds with a black Afro, brown eyes, facial hair and a tattoo of a 5-point star on his left cheek.
He was last seen wearing a green camouflage baseball hat, a green camouflage jacket and black pants.
Scott is known to frequent Mariners Harbor, New Brighton, West Brighton and Stapleton neighborhoods, police said.
Police could not say if Scott had any prior arrests, but the Staten Island Advance reported he was previously arrested for assault and robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
