LONG ISLAND CITY — A glassy 11-story condominium tower will rise next year near MoMA PS1, including two penthouse apartments that will start at $4 million.
Sales for The Jackson, at 13-33 Jackson Ave. at 47th Avenue, are expected to launch next month, according to Modern Spaces, the brokerage firm behind the listings for the 56-unit property.
The building will be made of up one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments that will sell for between $600,000 to $3 million, as well as two penthouses — a three-bedroom and four-bedroom — with 18-foot ceilings priced at $4 million and up.
"The Jackson is creating a high-end level of luxury that doesn’t currently exist in this area of Long Island City," Modern Spaces founder Eric Benaim said in a statement, citing a growing demand for homes in the area.
The developers say they will pay tribute to the neighborhood's history as an artistic hub by erecting a glass mosaic in the lobby of the building, created by artist Tom Fruin, best known for his stained glass water tower sculptures in Brooklyn.
The building will also host amenities for residents, including a gym, a children's playroom and a rooftop lounge, according to Modern Spaces.
The project is being developed by Charney Construction and Development, Ascent Development and Tavros Capital Partners. Architectural firm Fogarty Finger is designing the building.
Construction is expected to wrap up in 2017.
