UPPER EAST SIDE — Police arrested the man they say followed women into their apartment buildings and robbed them of cash and jewelry, police said.

Dwayne Hill, 45, targeted five women across Manhattan, following them into buildings, showing a gun or pretending to have one before taking off with their property, police said.

Hill was arrested on the Upper East Side at 9 p.m. Thursday and charged with three counts of robbery and three counts of burglary, according to the NYPD.

In the first incident, Hill followed a 27-year-old woman into the elevator of her East Village home at 8:35 p.m. on Jan. 14, and robbed her of $150 after pretending to have a gun in his jacket, police said.

On Jan. 21 at 10:34 p.m., Hill went into a Gristedes at Lexington Avenue and East 89th Street, and threatened a 22-year-old woman with a gun and stole $20 from her, according to police.

The next day, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m., he followed a 30-year-old woman into the elevator of her East 92nd Street apartment and took $60 and a MetroCard after telling her that he had a gun, police said.

Hill made his way to Chelsea on Feb. 11, where he followed a 25-year-old woman into her apartment just before 7 p.m., and snatched her Bank of America debit card, her ID, $50, a watch and other jewelry worth $5,300, according to police.

Back on the Upper East Side on Feb. 16, Hill followed a 71-year-old woman into her building's stairwell at East 76th Street and Second Avenue and robbed her of $280 after pretending he had a gun in his pocket, the NYPD said.

No one was hurt in the robberies, according to authorities.

He was later caught on surveillance video trying to buy shoes at a West 125th Street sneaker shop. He was unable to make the purchase, police said.

Two victims identified Hill in a lineup, sources said.

He has not yet been arraigned.
