Saturday, Feb. 20

David Bowie Day!

Where: Staten Island Children's Museum, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Celebrate the life of the great David Bowie with a day full of kids activities based on the artist's music at the Staten Island Children's Museum. The day includes face painting like Bowie, a "Put on your red shoes and dance" Labyrinth Dance Party, making a space collage inspired by the song "Starman" and a read along to an illustrated version of "Space Oddity."

Where: Staten Island Museum, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 2 to 3 p.m.

Playwright and writer for HBO's "The Wire" will give a talk and signing about her debut novel "The Castle Cross the Magnet Carter." The book is described as an epic story tracing the lives of four men from 1941 to the 21st century. The event is free with museum admission. Hardcover books will be on sale and wine will be served.

"Summer Yearnings & Conversions" Opening Reception

Where: CPG Gallery, 814 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 5 to 8 p.m.

The CPG Gallery will host an opening reception for their latest photography show, "Summer Yearnings & Conversions." The show features work by Connie Frisch-Cherniak, Richard Capuozzo, Joyce Coletti, Willie Chu and more.

Five Staten Island Writers Talk

Where: Everything Goes Book Cafe, 208 Bay St., Tompkinsville
When: 7 p.m.

Boulevard Book will host an evening with Staten Island authors Avi Gvili, Dennis Green, Peter Kearney, Palma Mingozzo and Chris Spollen. The event will feature live music by June Palo.

► Bay Street Corridor Zoning and Housing Workshop

Where: PS 65, 98 Grant St., Tompkinsville
When: 12 to 3 p.m.

Residents can give their thoughts on the proposed rezoning of the Bay Street corridor and housing plan. The half-mile of stretch of Bay Street, which runs from Stapleton to St. George, will be rezoned for more residential uses as part of a push by Mayor Bill de Blasio to create more affordable housing options in the city.

Historic Richmond Town Tavern Concert

Where: Historic Richmond Town's Guyon Tavern, 440 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town
When: 6 and 8 p.m.

Historic Richmond Town will continue its series of acoustic performances at its Guyon Tavern with a show by the rockabilly/pop group Half Moon. Tickets are $11 online, $13 at the door.

Sunday, Feb. 21

The Itty Biddies Concert

Where: Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 2 to 3 p.m.

Jazz children's band The Itties Biddies will preform a free concert at Snug Harbor's Music Hall.
