Man Shot in Throat at Washington Heights Bodega, Police Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A man was shot multiple times inside a bodega on West 174th Street Monday night, police said.

The victim, 25, was inside the West 174 Gourmet Deli Grocery at 530 W. 174th St. at 11:15 p.m. when the shooter entered the store and fired several times, hitting him in the throat and shoulder, the NYPD said.

He taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. 

The suspect fled the store on foot after the shooting, police said. 

Businesses in the area said police were canvassing the area Tuesday and gathering surveillance evidence. 

The bodega remained closed as of Wednesday afternoon, with officers stationed in the front of the store and patrolling the area. Police couldn't confirm how long the grocery store had been closed.
