MTA Conductor Punches NYPD Traffic Agent Who Wrote Him a Ticket, Police Say

By Gwynne Hogan | February 16, 2016 7:04pm

EAST WILLIAMSBURG — An MTA employee cursed out an NYPD traffic agent who tried to write him a ticket, ripped up the violation then punched the man in the chest, according to police.

"Are you f----ng serious? We are on the same job. I work right here," off-duty MTA conductor Moises Gonzalez, 53, shouted at the traffic agent during the Jan. 29 fracas, according to police, who arrested him on Tuesday.

"I should punch you in the f----ng mouth," Gonzalez allegedly yelled at the NYPD traffic agent at around 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of Havemeyer Street and Broadway. "F--- your F----ing ticket."

After cursing the traffic agent out, Gonzalez, who's worked with the MTA since 2007, started walking away, but suddenly turned around, tore up the ticket and punched the 25-year-old traffic agent in the gut, according to police and an MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz.

After the attack, Gonzalez got into his 2010 Nissan and fled the scene while the injured traffic agent was taken to Woodhull Hospital, police said.

Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second degree assault.

James Gannon, a spokesman for the Transit Workers Union said Gonzalez was off-duty at the time of the alleged assault and declined to comment further.

Gonzalez had not yet been arraigned as of Tuesday afternoon.
