MANHATTAN — The outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Eastern Mountain Sports will close its Upper West Side outpost next week, employees said.

The 2152 Broadway store, at the corner of West 76th Street, will shutter by Feb. 24, staff said.

In the meantime, residents can expect major sales as the store tries to move merchandise, a manager explained.

The SoHo location of the retailer will remain open, he added.

The company's corporate office did not immediately return a request for comment regarding the decision to close the store.

Eastern Mountain Sports opened the two-floor, 15,000-square-foot Broadway store in the fall of 2011.

Its goal was to provide expert-level knowledge of adventure sports like kayaking and rock climbing, as well as to create connections with the neighborhood through community service projects.
