COLUMBUS CIRCLE — Commuters can pick up an artisanal doughnut, a scoop of gelato or a pair of designer sunglasses this spring without ever having to leave the subway.
In April, 32 vendors including Dylan’s Candy Bar, Doughnuttery and Pressed Juicery will set up shop at TurnStyle, an underground market on the subway concourse at the 59th Street Columbus Circle subway station.
The developer initially hoped to open the market at the end of 2015, the Commercial Observer reported last year, but pushed the opening back.
Park Avenue coffee and chocolate shop 2Beans, West Village venues Ellary’s Greens and Bosie Tea Parlor and Brooklyn pizza joint Ignazio’s are among the food vendors expected to operate out of the market.
Retail tenants will include Spectre & Co., Studio Manhattan, Papyrus, Arth Hats and Specs New York.
Ellary’s Greens recently submitted an application to Community Board 4 requesting a beer and wine license at its TurnStyle outpost, according to a CB4 filing.
The market will also feature a rotating roster of pop-up shops, along with occasional performances and displays by artists and musicians, it said in a release.
