VIDEO: Deli Worker Fights Off Pipe-Wielding Robber, Police Say

MARINERS HARBOR — A deli worker fended off a pipe-wielding robber who tried to steal the store's cash register last month, according to police and surveillance video.

The robber walked into the Nothing But The Best Deli at 182 South Ave. on Jan. 25 at about 2:30 p.m., tried to hit the 25-year-old male worker with a pipe, grabbed for the cash register, police said.

The worker fought back, swinging a wooden plank at the robber. The robber fled empty handed, according to police.

The suspect is described as between 30 and 35 years old, 180 pounds and between 5-foot 10-inch to 6-foot tall man, police said. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black and white winter hat, camouflaged pants and dark colored shoes.
