GOWANUS — It's a bargain basement bunny sale.

More of the rabbits that were rescued from an accused animal abuser last year are up for adoption for a discounted price.

The fee to take home one of the cottontails has been dropped to $14 from the usual $25 price in an effort to move the rabbits into loving homes as soon as possible.

The homeless animals have had a long wait.

Police and animal welfare workers rescued the bunnies from behind a Gowanus tire shop a year ago. The sick and injured animals have since been nursed back to health and spayed or neutered.

They're now ready for new homes and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has hosted several adoption events to match the bunnies with owners. In December, 48 of the bunnies were adopted and 15 others found new caretakers earlier this month, an ASPCA spokeswoman said.

About 35 bunnies are now up for adoption.

"Rabbits can make wonderful and unique pets — particularly for smaller spaces, like apartments," said Howard Lawrence, vice president of ASPCA's Anti-Cruelty Group.

"After more than a year of recovery, these rabbits are ready to leave their past behind and start new lives in loving, safe homes."

The ASPCA's rabbit adoption event will be held at 415 East 91st St. between First and York avenues on Saturday, Feb.13 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.,  Sunday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The $14 adoption fee includes a cage, water bottle and cardboard carrier.
