MIDTOWN — A hotel guest who ripped a door inside his room off its hinges and then charged a police officer while naked got shocked with a Taser before being arrested, police said.

Marc Irving, 25, startled fellow guests and security at The Jewel Hotel at 11 W. 51st St. some time before 9:30 a.m. Friday, after they heard “loud banging and screams coming from the room,” according to his criminal complaint filed by the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

Security summoned police, who entered the room and found Irving “naked, agitated and combative," according to the complaint.

Irving had ripped a door inside the room off its hinges and thrown it on the ground, according to three other people in the room, the complaint said.

Officers asked Irving to stand back and comply with their orders, but he instead started yelling and “flailing his arms” before running toward one of the officers, the complaint said.

At that point, one of the officers used his Taser on Irving, hitting him in the chest, police said.

After being transported to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital to get the Taser's prongs removed, Irving was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest, the DA’s office said.

The Jewel Hotel security supervisor told a police officer that it would cost $700 to replace the hotel property Irving damaged, the complaint said.

The Jewel Hotel did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Irving is currently being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex in lieu of $1,500 bail, according to the city Department of Correction.

He is expected in court on Feb. 11, the DOC added.

Irving was previously arrested on Sept. 6, when a 19th Precinct police officer saw him driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen near East 62nd Street and Third Avenue, the DA’s office said.

Irving was unable to provide any registration or paperwork for the vehicle, so police brought him into custody at the 19th Precinct, where he tried to convince an officer to release him in exchange for $600, according to the criminal complaint for that arrest.

Irving was charged with bribery, criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle, the DA’s office said.

He was jailed on $1,250 bond but was later released without bail after pleading guilty on Oct. 19, according to the DA’s office.

An attorney representing Irving did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
