HELL'S KITCHEN — A taxi passenger punched her 70-year-old cabdriver in the face and smashed the TV screen in his cab after getting angry about the fare meter being switched on, police said.

The driver, a Manhattan resident, picked the woman up in his 2010 Toyota near West 158th Street and Broadway around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 and drove onto the West Side Highway to take her to Times Square, according to the NYPD.

But after the rider said she was not happy about the meter being activated, the cabbie pulled over at West 57th Street and 12th Avenue, police said.

After he stopped the car, the woman punched him in the face, breaking his glasses and leaving him with a small cut on his forehead, he told police. She also smashed the television screen in the back of the cab, police said.

Police are investigating the assault.
