YORKVILLE — Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted and robbed a woman on Second Avenue on Saturday.

At roughly 5 a.m. on Saturday, a man wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap grabbed the 36-year-old woman as she was walking along East 94th Street, according to the NYPD.

The suspect threw her to the ground after she crossed Second Avenue and then forced her to walk down the block, where he took $40 in cash and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The woman ran away to a nearby store, where the suspect couldn't find her.

Video surveillance footage shows the suspect inside the same grocery store talking to what appears to be the cashier.

Police say the suspect is roughly 30 years old and stands about 5-foot-7.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
