UPPER EAST SIDE —  Renderings of a new luxury apartment tower coming to the site of an old parking garage were unveiled this week.

The image of the high rise expected to be built at 152 E. 87th St., between Lexington and Third avenues, shows large glass windows, terraces and a metal facade with the front shaped into four distinct columns.

The rendering was first reported by New York YIMBY.

The 19-story tower is expected to rise 210 feet between Lexington and Third avenues. It will keep 150 of the 550 parking spaces that already exist in the property's six-story parking garage, formerly Allan's Garage, according to city records and a Board of Standards and Appeals decision in January 2015.

The developer, Gordon Haskett, plans to convert three of the garage's top floors to apartments, build an additional 16 stories on top of the garage and use an adjacent building to create a total of 56 units and six duplexes, according to the plans.

The building will feature a large lobby, a multi-level exercise facility, a recreation room, a playroom for kids, storage and parking.

The project is expected to be completed in 2017, according to a spokesman for Ismael Leyva Architects, which is designing the building.

"The Allan Garage site offers us a valuable opportunity to design a significant new mid-block development," said Ismael Leyva, president of Ismael Leyva Architects.

"We have created many unique duplex residences that take advantage of building setbacks to feature private terraces not often offered in such a prime location.”
