EAST VILLAGE — A new mixed-use building is set to rise at the site of the former Peter Stuyvesant Post Office by as soon as the end of this year.

The building at 432 E. 14th St. is expected to be completed by the end of this year or by early 2017. Information about the plan, its timeframe and a design rendering have been unveiled on the website of developer Benenson Capital Partners, LLC, as first reported by EV Grieve.

The company says it’s partnering with Mack Real Estate Group to construct a 140,000-square-foot building featuring residential and ground floor retail space.

The residential units will be 80 percent market rate and 20 percent affordable, according to Benenson. Two 8,700-square foot retail units will also be available.

Neither Benenson nor Mack Real Estate Group could be immediately reached for comment Friday.

The post office that once stood on the site moved in early 2014 to a smaller location at 333 E. 14th St.
