MIDTOWN — There were delays on LIRR trains leaving Penn Station and westbound service was suspended at Jamaica during the evening commute Thursday, according to the MTA.

A signal malfunction shut down service from Jamaica into Penn Station, and trains heading out to the island on the Babylon, Hempstead, Port Jefferson, Port Washington and Ronkonkoma lines were experiencing five to 10 minute delays.

The MTA was cross-honoring tickets on the E line at Jamaica.

Riders at Woodside could take the 7 train toward 42nd Street.

Check the MTA’s website for updates.
