QUEENS — Fans who missed Mumford & Sons at the Forest Hills Stadium three years ago will get another chance to hear them at the venue this summer.

The British rock band is scheduled to return to the historic stadium on June 16, with soul singer Raury opening, according to the organizers.

Mumford & Sons confirmed the concert Monday morning via its Twitter account.

The concert at the Forest Hills Stadium will be part of Mumford & Sons' tour which kicks off on March 4 when the group headlines Okeechobee Festival in Florida.

Mumford & Sons was the first group to play at the historic venue in August 2013, when it was refurbished and returned to its former glory after decades of disuse. Most concerts at the venue were halted in the 1980s after opposition from local residents.

The initial sold-out concert brought about 17,000 fans to Forest Hills, prompting complaints that the event was oversold.

“We’re thrilled to announce the return of Mumford & Sons to Forest Hills Stadium," said Forest Hills Stadium promoter Mike Luba in a statement. "This is just the beginning, we’ve got another diverse season of entertainment to share with you soon.”

Since 2013, the venue has undergone a multimilion dollar overhaul, including a new stage, handrails and benches, as well a number of noise-suppression measures.

“We’ve made some incredible improvements to the stadium that have made it a world class venue and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back," Luba noted.

The organizers also decreased the numbers of tickets sold to about 12,000 per concert.

The stadium, which opened in 1923, used to host the U.S. Open, before the event moved to the National Tennis Center in Flushing in 1977. It also held numerous concerts, including performances by Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Since its rehabilitation the venue has hosted a variety of renowned artists, like Van Morrison, The Replacements, The Who and the Zac Brown Band. It has also become the summer home to The New York Pops, an orchestra specializing in popular classics.

The complete 2016 line-up will be announced soon, the organizers said.

Tickets for the show will go on sale Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. All tickets will cost $70 and can be purchased here. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the show will start at 6:30 p.m.
