EAST WILLIAMSBURG — The red carpet is rolling out early this month at the neighborhood's newest movie theater.

In the 10 days leading up to the Oscars on Feb. 28, Syndicated, a brand new movie theater and restaurant at 40 Bogart St. is screening a handful of feature films nominated for awards this year.

The programming begins on Feb. 19 with three consecutive evenings of Oscar-nominated short films.

Friday's screening will feature nine kid-friendly short animated works from "Bear Story," the melancholy tale of a caged bear who longs to escape, to "Sanjay's Super Team" which tells the story of a young first-generation Indian-American boy whose fascination with pop culture puts him at odds with his father more traditional Hindu values.

On Saturday, three documentary shorts will screen including "A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness" about an 18-year-old woman in Pakistan who was targeted by her father and uncle in an honor killing but survived to tell the tale.

A collection of five live action shorts play on Sunday afternoon into evening.

Then, from Monday through Saturday Syndicated will screen a different Oscar nominated feature film each evening, including "Ex Machina," which was nominated for best original screenplay, The Martian, which is up for best picture, and "Amy," the documentary about Amy Winehouse.

"Spotlight," "Straight Outta Compton" and "Mad Max: Fury Road" will also play during the week.

The grand finale comes the day of the awards ceremony on Feb. 28. The Oscar's will be playing live at Syndicate's bar and restaurant while "Birdman," last year's best picture winner, will screen in the theater.

There are multiple screenings each day so check the website for times and tickets.
