TRIBECA — A New Jersey man threatened to kill another motorist in a road rage incident in TriBeCa, according to police.
The 34-year-old man from Willingboro got into an argument with the other driver after one motorist cut the other off near the intersection of Canal Street and Sixth Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 21, police said.
When the other driver stepped out of his car, the New Jersey man reached into his trunk, pulled out a silver handgun, and asked the other driver, “How would you feel if someone put a bullet in your head right now?” and drove off, leaving the other driver in fear for his life, officials said.
Police officers from the 13th Precinct caught up with the suspect about half an hour later, pulling him over on West 21st Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues in Chelsea, according to a police report.
Officers did not recover a firearm while arresting him, according to a report.
Prosecutors charged the man with menacing, and a judge released him without bail pending his next court date on March 2, court records show.
A lawyer for the defendant did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
