Man Tries to Rob Apple Bank on Upper West Side, Police Say

UPPER WEST SIDE — A man tried to rob an Apple Bank branch on Monday but fled empty-handed, police said.

The man entered the bank at 2100 Broadway, at West 73rd Street, about 12:30 p.m. and passed a note to a teller demanding money, police said. 

When the teller walked away from the suspect, he fled north along Broadway without any money, according to authorities.

The man is described as between 45 and 55 years old, standing 5-foot-6, clean shaven and wearing a black wool cap, sunglasses and a black jacket.
