WOODSIDE — Catching that flight is about to get easier.

Starting this spring, buses will run more frequently along the Q70 line, which connects riders at two major Queens transit hubs to LaGuardia Airport.

The Q70 will begin running every eight minutes during the day and during peak evening hours on weekdays, compared to running every 12 minutes as it does now. It will also run every 20 minutes overnight, compared to every half hour currently, according to the MTA.

The change is due to a jump in ridership on the bus, which runs between the airport and the 61st Street station in Woodside and the 74th Street-Broadway station in Jackson Heights.

The Q70 has seen its ridership more than double since it launched in 2013, from 2,173 customers on an average weekday to 4,372 customers today, the MTA said.

The MTA is also planning to bring Select Bus Service to the line sometime this year, according to the announcement.

Riders Alliance and Global Gateway Alliance, two transit advocacy groups that have been pushing for the MTA to turn the Q70 into a free airport shuttle, called the increased service "a positive step."

"LaGuardia has the worst mass transit access of any of our major airports, and poor transportation to and from the airport is a top complaint of passengers and airlines alike," Global Gateway Chairman Joe Sitt said in a statement.
