DITMARS — A pair of would-be robbers punched a CVS worker after trying to steal pints of ice cream from a store in Astoria earlier this month, according to the NYPD.

The sweet-toothed bandits entered the store at 31st Street and Ditmars Boulevard just after 7 p.m. on Jan. 3, where they tried to steal ice cream by putting pints of them into a book bag. It wasn't clear how many cartons he managed to stuff into the bag.

When a store employee confronted the men, one of them punched her in the face, police said. The suspects then fled the store empty-handed.

The victim refused medical attention, according to police. CVS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The men were both described as being between 18 and 20 years old, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing roughly 160 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
