CHELSEA — Four armed intruders wearing masks robbed nearly a dozen occupants of a Chelsea apartment before escaping out of a third-floor window as police arrived, the NYPD said.
A video the NYPD released shows four people in hoodies entering a building near West 27th Street and Ninth Avenue on Saturday at roughly 1:40 a.m.
Once inside the building, the suspects went to the third floor of the building and entered an apartment wearing masks and carrying weapons, police said.
The intruders told the 11 people inside the apartment — who ranged in age from 19 to 35 — to get on the ground before stealing their cash and cellphones, the NYPD said.
One of the victims managed to call 911, but the four suspects climbed out a bedroom window as police arrived at the scene, the NYPD said.
Police did not say what kind of weapons the intruders carried, and none of the occupants reported injuries.
Anyone with information related to the robbery is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
