NEW BRIGHTON — A man was hit with a six-count indictment after he shot his 19-year-old girlfriend in the torso earlier this month, prosecutors said.

Jayson Lynch, 32, was arrested Jan. 14 and was indicted on assault, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm for the shooting, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

On Jan. 5, Lynch shot his girlfriend in her upper torso inside a Benziger Avenue home at about 3 p.m., according to prosecutors and the Staten Island Advance.

The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, the Advance reported.

He pled not guilty in court and his bail was set at $75,000, according to online court records. He's due back in court Tuesday.

Lynch was previously arrested in April and charged with consumption of alcohol on the street, according to court records.

His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
