THE BRONX — Teenagers shouting "ISIS, ISIS" attacked a Muslim man walking with his 9-year-old niece near a Unionport middle school Friday afternoon in what police are investigating as a hate crime attack, according to police and reports.

Mujibur Rahman, 43, who is from Bangladesh, was walking near a middle school campus at 1111 Pugsley Ave., near Watson Avenue, about 5:30 p.m. when the two suspects attacked him, NYPD officials said.

"They said ISIS, ISIS and they started to hit me," Rahman told NY1 through a translator.

The teens knocked him to the ground and then punched and kicked his head, police said. The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the attack, police said.

Rahman was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

The girl was not injured, officials said, but Rahman told NY1 that she is terrified to leave the house.

The suspects fled and had not been arrested as of Monday morning, police said.
