HELL'S KITCHEN — A man returned from a business trip to discover $100,000 in cash and $5,000 in jewelry had been stolen from a safe in his apartment, police said.

The Hell's Kitchen resident returned to his home on 10th Avenue and 51st Street on Jan. 17th after a five-day trip to Florida, according to the NYPD. When he unlocked his door, he discovered his apartment had been ransacked and his safe left open, police said.

The man told police that $100,000 in cash had been removed from the safe, along with an assortment of jewelry valued at $5,000.

The victim said he was the only person with a key to the apartment, and police said there were no signs of forced entry.

The burglary is still under investigation.
