THE BRONX — Police have released footage of a pair of Anti-Crime Unit officers swooping in and taking down an armed shooting suspect in Morris Heights Monday night.

The plainclothed officers, assigned to the 46th Precinct, were on patrol when they heard a gunshot and saw a crowd scattering near Featherbed Lane and Nelson Avenue about 9:50 p.m. They continued in the direction of the gunshot and saw Edward Chatman, 31, allegedly open fire, police said.

The officers pursued Chatman in their car, identified themselves and ordered him to drop the gun and freeze. He complied and was taken into custody, the NYPD said.

Police recovered a loaded .357 ruger at the scene.

Chatman, of Morrisania, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a weapon, police said.
